GHOSTS: across cultures and time, there are stories and language to speak about the dead. ghosts are a kind of go-between the living and dead, a liminal space that can can help us understand both. for this issue we want to know - what is haunting you?

Submissions open: July 6th

GUIDELINES


• send all submissions to ASCENDMAGAZINE @ GMAIL . COM

• we accept submissions of prose (short stories, creative non-fiction, think pieces/reviews, listicles, etc.), poetry, and art (visual, digital, photography, etc.). if it’s yours and you consider it art, we’re probably fine with it.

• the subject line of your email should either be ART, PROSE, or POETRY. 

• prose: up to four <2000 word pieces

• poetry: up to four <1000 word pieces

• art: no limit

• photography: no limit

• your work should appear in your email as attachments. each individual piece should also appear as its own attachment. don’t paste everything into one document and please title your work, even if the title is UNNAMED. we accept pdf, word .doc and .docx, jpeg, and png. 

• in the body of your email, please include your name, a short bio in the third person (so we can get to know you!), and any social media links/usernames you want to appear next to your work.

• previously published work is fine. just let us know where your work has been published in the body of your email.

• simultaneous submissions are also fine. be sure to let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere.

• by submitting to ascend, you are affirming that your work is wholly original. we don’t tolerate plagiarism of any kind.
